Online Application for Job Seekers

Once you have found a position that you are interested in on the Volvo website, you need to register and fill in the application, and attach your resume (CV). Ensure you keep your cover letter concise, a maximum of one page. The cover letter allows you to sell yourself from the start. Try and avoid repeating phrases or words from the advert. Highlight your skills and provide good examples of when you have put those skills to work. Always be honest. Ensure your resume is in chronological order, with your current or previous employment first and explain any gaps, such as a year of full-time study, or another reason why you were unemployed for a time. Keep the length to not more than 2 pages.

You may apply for more than one position at a time. Include any additional documentation that is specified in the post advertisement. You will receive an email confirming your application. As there may be more than a few applicants for the same position, Volvo will take what time is necessary to study each application.

 

First Interview

If you have been shortlisted, you will be invited for a first interview. This may be in person, on the phone or via video conference. This interview is about getting to know you; your personality, skills and strengths and how you can benefit the company if you are employed. You will probably be informed about the company and the role you have applied for. The most important aspect of the interview is to be yourself. Volvo’s Assessment Tests

  • Cognitive Ability TestsVolvo uses the Matrigma test and the Raven Matrices. These assessments are non-verbal, therefore suitable for multinational applicants. For some posts, you will be required to complete one or more assessments. These tests are examining your personality and skills.
  • Pre-Employment Personality Assessment Test – The personality assessment has no correct or incorrect answers and is multiple-choice. Make sure to read the questions carefully and select the closest answer to how you would react in a certain way given a hypothetical situation. This test is to see if your personality will complement the position you are applying for and if you will be a good fit for the company culture.
  • Verbal and Numerical Reasoning Tests – The assessments are multiple-choice and are designed to test your ability to follow instructions, understand directives, show technical skills, and complete sentences. and answer numerical questions in the form of a table or graph within time limits. Volvo’s Assessment Centre

The tests that you will complete at the Assessment Centre are designed to assess your future work performance and professional skills. You will be assessed during oral presentations, and group activities such as simulation exercises and role-playing. Recruiters base their scores on professionalism, charisma, personality and proficiency. You may be required to give a short presentation on a relevant subject.

 

Interviews

While at the Assessment Centre, you may be interviewed briefly throughout the day once you have reached various milestones. You will be asked questions related to your competency and suitability for the position that you have applied for. You may be asked situational questions regarding difficult circumstances at your previous position, and how you solved them. Prepare ahead of time, by identifying these situations, what steps you identified, how you reacted and in what way it benefitted your previous employer.

 

Next Steps and Onboarding Programs

If you are successful in your application and are hired, your new manager will keep you informed of further developments. You might be invited to meet your colleagues in an informal setting and to go on a guided tour of your working environment. The onboarding program is run by the Volo Group University. How to Practice for Volvo’s Interviews & Psychometric Tests?

Think of the interviews as more of a discussion than a series of questions and answers. Highlight your skills, show your passion for your interests and explain what you think makes you a perfect candidate for the job. Read up on the company’s culture, beliefs and goals and show how they align with your own. If your first or subsequent interviews will be held online, via Teams or another platform, ensure that your computer and other technical equipment are ready and that you have a stable internet connection. Sit in a quiet room where you will not be disturbed.

As with all job interviews, politeness, friendliness and dressing appropriately are important. Your whole self will be on display. Make sure to arrive a little ahead of time when attending the assessment day and in-person interviews.
